Oakland believe in the commercial future of Belfast and its ability to take its rightful place as a centre for economic growth and regeneration. We believe that across Northern Ireland there is demand for high quality commercial, residential and retail space to meet the needs of those who live and work here.

We have been anticipating, planning for and meeting that demand for two decades. In May 2018 we began work on our ambitious Merchant Square development. This scheme will transform the centre of Belfast and inject economic growth into the city.

Works at the Merchant Square site commenced without any pre let agreements and based entirely on the Oakland belief that we would deliver a building which would set new standards in the provision of Grade A office space in our city for which a substantial demand exists. By the summer of 2021, Merchant Square will house 3,000 employees of PwC in what will be their largest office building in the UK, outside London.

We are also planning the development of Belfast’s first ever Apart Hotel. Sited at the junction of Queen Street and College Street in the heart of Belfast City centre this scheme will combine the facilities of a high end hotel with the amenities of a luxury apartment development. Planning permission has been secured to replace the existing 1980’s 3 storey block with a 14-storey apart-hotel development which will feature 189 apartments, a bar and restaurant, gymnasium, meetings rooms and event space. Work will commence on the construction of the ApartHotel in Summer 2021.

Outside Belfast we are also very active. In the beautiful and historic town of Bushmills, just a few miles from the renowned Royal Portrush golf course we are currently developing 32 luxury riverside apartments. Planning permission has recently been secured, site clearance work is already underway with construction due to commence Spring 2019.
